A Yogic 35th Birthday!
I celebrated my 35th birthday on Saturday…and it
was a truly memorable experience. Being a new yoga instructor, I have
incorporated the Zen of yoga into my daily life….and what better way to
celebrate a milestone 35th year than to do it with Yoga! On October
26th, I participated in an all day (12:30-8pm) yoga charity event
that supported the Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Center of Hawaii. It
was held at the beautiful Modern hotel in Waikiki, where the sunshine and wine
glasses flowed freely! I was surrounded by good friends, positive energy, live
music, and plenty of smiles. Enjoy the video of us practicing in the pool and
photos of day.
I am indulging in a unique opportunity by taking a mini
sabbatical to rethink and re-chart my
professional goals. I am also taking the time to be very deliberate with my next
job choice. Sean and I have little more than a year and a half left on Hawaii,
therefore the most important thing I can do is appreciate, enjoy, participate
and learn more about this place that I love. We are fortunate that financially
we can handle this time of just one income (Sean’s income), while I iron out
some family financials, do some home improvement projects, train our dogs,
advance my yoga practice and instruction abilities, and JUST DISCOVER AND ENJOY
HAWAII! Sounds like I am doing GIST
right here in Oahu!
And just like GIST, I am experiencing new flavors, scenery
and cultural aspects of the island. I had driven past this overlook a hundred
times…just last week I took the time to pull over with a friend, and take this
beautiful picture of Kaneohe Bay. I feel utterly blessed to live here with my
best friend and two furry lovebugs (my dogs). This is certainly a very happy
time for both Sean and I, and I encourage all of you, when the timing is right,
to take the time to stop and smell the roses…or in my case, the hibiscusJ
